Parents love to see their kids playing with educational toys. It just makes us feel better about your child’s play time. After all, they are playing and having fun, yet at the same time learning as well. Building toys are great and definitely fall into the educational toys category. What are some good ones?

Almost everyone has heard of K’Nex. My son has had many of these kits and has built some really amazing things with them. It used to keep him occupied for hours at a time, and he loved building things with them. This is a great toy for your child. There are so many different things you can build with these sets, your child will only be limited by their imagination. There are sets to build roller coasters, cars, ferris wheels, action toys, swings, animals, creepy crawlers, machines, robots, carousels, carnival rides, dinosaurs, and just too many things to even name here. You can just build some pretty amazing stuff, and your child will be so proud of himself or herself for completing these projects.

LEGO is another building toy set to consider for your child. You may think these are not quite as sophisticated as K’Nex sets but you might be surprised at some of the spectacular things that can be built using these sets. For example, with the LEGO Creator Beach House you can build a very realistic beach house that comes complete with details such as sunlit windows, a barbecue, patio table, umbrella, chairs, fireplace, balcony, skylight, mailbox, doorbell, chimney, and lots more. I can imagine your child would be engaged for many hours with this building set.

And what about the classic Tinkertoy sets? I’m sure most of the parents remember these toys from their childhood. If not, let me tell you, these are relatively simple but fun. I had these building toys when I was a child and had hours and hours of fun making really unique things. Another company that is like Tinker Toys is Superstructs Super Set. The set comes complete with illustrated instructions on how to build many different things such as vehicles, characters, and models. The Superstructs Wacky Machines looks like you can build some truly wacky and interesting models.
