Not everyone can afford the really expensive toys for their kids, and actually even those that can afford them may not want to spend the money for something their child will soon outgrow. So where can you buy kids toys without spending a lot of money?

Well the first thing you might consider is naturally going to be some of the discount stores like Walmart or Target. You can buy toys at fairly good prices at these stores at pretty much any time of the year. You can look in the Sunday paper for whatever specials they have going for the week and often you can find some good deals on popular toys for the kids.

If you have young children who really aren’t picky at all you can go to the dollar store and pick up some very inexpensive toys. They may not last very long but they are cheap and just fine for the kids that are not asking for certain toys that have to be purchased in a specialty or electronics store.

Another option is the local thrift store. You would be amazed at the interesting things you can find in a thrift store. I used to be the type of person that would not step foot in one of those shops because I thought of them as a place to buy used clothing and nothing more. Then I needed an older model popcorn popper for a project I was doing, and since they weren’t made anymore I was advised to try the thrift store. I was so surprised to find out how much stuff they sell in there – that is, the wide variety. I ended up going quite often after that to see what new things they had, and I would often find some great stuff I could sell on eBay for a profit.

But I’m getting off subject now. As far as toys, I always see toys at the thrift stores when I stop in. Sometimes they are not looking too good, a little worn out, but sometimes you’ll see practically new stuff and every now and then something brand new.

Garage sales are another great place to search out and buy kids toys for very little money. Especially if it’s toward the end of the day and the people would like to just get rid of everything.

And still another option is an online auction site like eBay. Watch the auctions and you’re sure to find a great deal on the toys you want.
