Cabbage Patch Kids Doll – Buy One of These Collectible Toys for Your Child for Christmas
I remember the Cabbage Patch Kids doll craze years ago where people were descending upon the stores like crazy and snapping these dolls up faster than they could be set out by the store personnel. I just saw the anniversary edition in the store the other day, prominently displayed, and it brought back some great memories.
I still have one of the dolls because, even though I was not a doll collector at all, I recognized that this was going to be one of those collectible toys that would one day be worth a lot of money (maybe) so I decided to buy one. Unfortunately, I failed to save the box so I only have the doll, but it is in excellent condition. That reminds me, I need to get it out of the closet and see if it might be worth any money. I doubt I would sell it but it would be kind of cool to see what I COULD sell it for if I wanted to.
How did these dolls get their start, you may ask. It seems like they were a phenomenon that took off literally overnight. In fact, they were invented in 1976 by a man named Xavier Roberts. Him and 5 friends started the Original Appalachian Artworks company that originally produced these dolls. Later, the Coleco toy company jumped on the bandwagon because they really liked the idea of “adopting” these dolls out, so they mass-producing them in 1983 using their new name, the Cabbage Patch Kids.

The new Limited Edition Cabbage Patch Kids 25th Anniversary Editions are hitting the stores now and you should run out and grab one. They won’t be around long and this is a good time to stock up on your collectible toys. I don’t even collect these type of things, Cabbage Patch Kids dolls or any doll at all, but I think I will pick up one.
So if you want a nice non-electronic, non-techie Christmas toy for your child that MIGHT be worth something years from now, pick up one or two of these nostalgic dolls as a gift. Get one for yourself too!
