Remember those Classic Fisher Price Toys you played with as a child? They have always engaged the imagination of children worldwide, and I especially fondly remember the toys my friends and I personally played with as kids. That is not to say that today’s toys are not good as well, but there is just something about a classic and vintage toy that brings back such wonderful memories.
There are a few reasons why you might want to start a collection of classic Fisher Price toys today. One reason is of course they may be worth lots of money later. Almost everyone can relate to that! But another reason is you can pass these toys down from generation to generation as they are well made and will last for a long time if taken care of properly.
So what should you do to begin your search for these vintage toys? First do some research and see what specific toys you’d like to add to your collection. Fisher Price has made many many toys over the years and it’s helpful to have some idea of what you are going to be looking for. Look at the categories and the specific toys.
Now, decide if you are going to collect a specific toy or a category or many different types of toys of all kinds. The View Master is a well known Fisher Price toy, really an icon if you will, and you could spend years just collecting View Masters and related products. This is an example of a simple toy yet it is so entertaining and also educational. Kids can learn so much with a View Master and they’ll enjoy the process. Adults enjoy them too! I had a View Master when I was a child and many of the little reels. I have no idea what became of them but I am sure if I still had them I’d have a collection worth quite a bit of money. Unfortunately, as happens a lot, they got lost or misplaced over the years, perhaps even thrown away.
Now that you’ve decided what type of classic or vintage Fisher Price toy you want to collect, do your research and hit the garage sales, thrift stores, and auction sites such as eBay. You’ll be surprised what treasures you will find. I personally like garage sales and thrift stores the best only because people tend to not know the value of what they have. You’ll most likely pay more on eBay. But they are all great places to search for these awesome old Fisher Price toys.
