Let’s face it, almost all children adore video games. I used to fight it but you know what they say, if you can’t beat ‘em, join ‘em. If you are not watchful, you will find your kids playing video or computer games with no value at all, and some even have a lot of violence which is totally inappropriate for kids. And the thing is, your kids will see the other kids playing these games and they’ll want to have the same games as well. You must always be diligent about monitoring the games your kids are playing.

But fortunately there are many very good computer games that are fun learning toys and can be safely played by kids of all ages. Many will teach your child new things and add to the lessons they are learning in school.

In this day and time of the so-call information age, kids are learning about computers when they are very young, even preschool age, and educational games are available to them. Your kids won’t be a speedy typist at this age but you can work with them to learn to use the mouse, and most of the games for the very young kids only require this to play.

Your young children can play games that will teach them numbers, the alphabet, colors, sounds, and shapes. They can play matching games and develop skills in phonics at a young age. Not only will your child be having fun and learning new things, he or she will also become very comfortable with a computer, a necessary evil nowadays.

So start your child early with fun learning toys and educational games but remember that you should set limits. Start that at a young age and they will develop that habit.
