Musical Toys – Are Musical Toys Educational or Just Noisy?

I like musical toys, and I don’t consider them simply loud and noisy although some may disagree. Actually kids love toys that are loud, toys that make noise, and toys that generally annoy as many people as possible. Musical toys might fall into that category but they are so enjoyable for the kids it’s worthwhile to add them to your collection.

Hearing is one of the first senses that develop in your child, and some mothers describe the phenomenon of feeling their babies move or kick when they made certain noises like singing or speaking to them, or sometimes when playing music. Studies show that if you play this same music to your child during his or her first year they will respond more so than to other sounds.

Music has a great impact on almost all aspects in a child’s development. It assists in developing coordination, rhythm, and timing. Music and singing help teach kids the structure of language. The beat of the music will help a child with numbers.

Did you know that listening to music can improve your child’s intellectual ability and is great for brain development? Children have been shown in studies to actually get a higher score on IQ tests if they have listened to some music right before the test.

So what about musical toys? Well they can help kids express themselves, structure their play, and to have fun and interact and engage. Just listening to music can also relax and calm a child that has gotten fidgety or overly hyper. It can be a sensory treat and will encourage your child to sing, jump around, or even dance around.

So are musical toys just a way of making noise? No way. There are many benefits to these types of toys and so many on the market to choose from. You’ll have no problem finding just the one for your child.
